Set in a dystopian future 50 years from now, Rooster Teeth’s new animated science fiction show gen:LOCK takes place in a world where humanoid mechas are used as weapons.
“I don’t want to be too spoilery, but I can say that [the plot] involves weaponizing a breakthrough in neuroscience,” creator Gray Haddock told Entertainment Weekly.
The series follows Vanguard pilot Julian Chase (Michael B. Jordan) on a mission to protect his people from an oppressive authoritarian force threatening to conquer the world. Dakota Fanning, Maisie Williams, Asia Kate Dillon, Golshifteh Farahani, and David Tennant also star in this western anime. The series premieres on January 26 with a free first episode on Rooster Teeth (available on iOS, Android, Apple TV, Xbox One, and online at RoosterTeeth.com). Subsequent episodes premiere weekly on Saturdays, exclusively for paying members.
