How long have you been cosplaying?
Since Summer 2012 but I took a semi hiatus while I was in school from Fall 2014 – May 2016 to focus on studies. So getting back into the swing of things now
What was your first convention?
AnimeNEXT 2011, I went with some friends of mine I met that school year and got really close to. They invited me a week or 2 before the con and I figure Why not?
What was your first cosplay?
Oh god I did Taskmaster from Marvel comics. I look back on it and it was so bad! But I was proud since it was my first time sewing a costume and doing this.
Do you feel you have a cosplay expertise? If so what would it be? (i.e. props, sewing etc.)
I would say definitely armor and prop work. I like to think I’m pretty good at using EVA Foam to make costumes. But I’m always aiming to improve my skills.
What have been your least and most expensive cosplays?
Least Expensive would be my Frozone since it was a gift. I already had boots & gloves to use with it. And most expensive would be my new Spawn I’ve been working on since I’m using worbla for the spikes and bought over 10 yards of fabric for it as well as a custom made bodysuit
What is your favorite convention to attend?
It’s a tie between Dragon Con and MAGfest. Both cons are just so much fun. And every time I have gone I have had a blast. I love the con scene and both conventions have given me the best cosplay/con experiences
What is your dream convention to attend?
Honestly my dream conventions were Dragon Con & Colossal Con. But since I now do those regularly I would E3, San Diego Comic Con, C2E2, AnimeEXPO, Blizzcon, and Holiday Matsuri are now on my hit list
What is your dream cosplay?
I would love to do a Monster Hunter inspired Pokemon Gijinka. Gijinkas give you so much freedom with your design that it would be so much fun to see what people could come up with using Monster Hunter as a base reference for a Gijinka.
What do you hate about cosplay?
I hate how immature and “attention seeking” some people can be. there are actual issues in the community. No need to bring everyone and their mothers into a beef between two people. Just because you don’t like this cosplayer doesn’t mean its your mission to make everyone hate them. Also I don’t understand the need or want to be in the face of everyone with this “notice me” mentality some people have and how some just become suck ups or kiss assers to make friends. Just be yourself
What do you love about cosplay?
I love the experiences I get from going to cons. I had made so many amazing memories and so many amazing friends in this community due to it. When you spend most of your life, growing up feeling like an outcast no matter how many friends you may had, how popular people said you were, and kind of a lone wolf. It is something special to go to a con and have people genuinely tell you & show you how much they love you. They miss you. They value you as a friend no matter the distance between you. I was able to travel around parts of the country to new places due to this hobby and I am genuinely happy I decided to get into it
Tell us something cool!
Well I’m working on a bunch of new projects soon as well as starting up a YouTube channel in which I’ll be doing vlogs from cons, Game plays, maybe comdey skits, and most importantly Cosplay armor tutorials, how to’s, costume showcases, etc… I am also working on starting my own Twitch to do live streams of gaming & creative
