Confessions from the Friendzone is a web series about a girl named Angelique who finds herself stuck in the “friend zone” with boys and in life. More comfortable listing the leaders of the Rebellion in Star Wars than going on a date, Angelique’s love life is as dead as a dementor. When her best friend (and long time crush) Jordan moves to town she decides to channel her inner Gamora and make changes to her life and relationships.
Armed with advice found on the internet, and supported by her coworker Rose, Angelique embarks on a hilarious journey to get Jordan to see her as more than just a friend. Through her (mis)adventures Angelique discovers that life is not meant to stay in the comfort of the friend zone, and the path to love (and not the dark side) often begins with loving yourself.
Confessions from the Friendzone was written and created by Raychel McKelvy. As a superhero- loving, Harry Potter quoting, educated Black female, she wanted to write fun, uplifting stories that challenged the status quo and highlighted the life of the Black nerd in a positive way. And while she will neither confirm nor deny that the premise of CFTFZ is based on her own love life, she believes that on some level this story resonates truth and relatability with every viewer.
