In the mood for love?
UMC, the first and largest streaming service for Black TV and film, is celebrating Black love this Valentine’s Day with a romance collection that all can enjoy. Here’s a quick list of 10 titles to stream regardless of your relationship status this year…
#1 – LOVE BY CHANCE
Black Panther’s Atandwa Kani stars in this romantic comedy about two aspiring actors from South Africa who move to America with hopes of cracking into the Hollywood industry. After a chance encounter, they grow to love and find comfort in each other. But between the everyday struggle of auditioning, dealing with daily rejection, self-doubt, financial hardship and crazy friends, their love is put to the test in the face of a shared passion.
#2 – COUPLES’ NIGHT
Kia (Reagan Gomez) and Kev (Charles Malik Whitfield) move from the Midwest to DC and experience a bumpy transition when they meet new friends (Tony Rock and Denise Boutte) in this country mouse meets city mouse romantic comedy.
#3 – BLACK LOVE
A docu-series created by newlywed filmmakers, Codie, and Tommy Oliver, “Black Love” highlights love stories from the Black community and answers the question, “What does it take to make a marriage work?” Featuring several of Hollywood’s favorite celebrity couples, the series pulls back the curtain on how love begins and shares jaw-dropping, at times cringe-worthy, at times magical, but always-true love stories.
“Things We Do for Love” is a sitcom that centers on a recently married couple, Darren (Alfonso Ribeiro) and Lourdes (Tamera Mowry), as they struggle with life as newlyweds while sustaining a family owned business. Once their zany in-laws move in (James Avery and Maria Conchita Alonso), their lives are forever changed.
#5 – CRAIG ROSS JR.’S MONOGAMY
Four couples undergo a new type of treatment called “Swap Therapy” to repair their broken marriages. Starring Brian White, Jill Marie Jones, Darius McCrary, Vanessa Simmons, Wesley Jonathan, Caryn Ward Ross, Chrystee Pharris, and Blue Kimble.
#6 – NO REGRETS
After 12 years of dating her college sweetheart and rejecting his marriage proposals, Nina (Monica Calhoun) finally says yes. But after meeting a handsome divorcee (Brian White), she finds herself in a compromising position. Also starring Elise Neal, Loretta Devine, Sharon Leal, and Caryn Ward Ross.
#7 – SECRETS
Tarron (Harold House Moore) is a successful, married businessman who risks losing it all when a sexy new hire (Denise Boutte) comes to his company. As his wife (Denyce Lawton) struggles to keep her family together by all means necessary, Tarron’s world is tested and shaken to its core.
Henry (Terrell Carter) and Tyra (Erica Hubbard) are a recently divorced couple navigating the challenges of co-parenting their young son while recovering from the wounds of their failed relationship. But after moving on to new partners, they soon find the grass isn’t quite greener and they might just want that old thing back. Will they take a second chance on each other? Also starring Lamman Rucker, Greg Alan Williams, and Davetta Sherwood.
#9 – PERFECT COMBINATION
When Rick (Christian Keyes) tries to find true love through a matchmaking service, a hilarious dating journey of catastrophic dates results!
#10 – SWITCHIN’ THE SCRIPT
Unlucky in love, Lonnie (Denyce Lawton) is convinced by her best friends to switch the script and take control of men. During a weekend corporate retreat, Lonnie impresses every man with her charm and beauty and catches the eye of her boss’s son David (Ray J). Also starring Jackée Harry, Tommy Ford, and Bobby Valentino.
