Are you a voracious reader with a constant stream of books lined up on your shelves? Do you buy more books than you can possibly read at a time? Are you on Goodreads recommending new books for people to try? Do you love analyzing stories? Are you looking to share your thoughts and analyses on the books you read?

Then BGN needs you!

BGN is expanding to include more book reviews and we need more writers to help cover them. As a BGN book reviewer you have a chance to gain access to indie books, books by diverse authors, and (in some cases) books from major publishers that have yet to be released. We will forward requests to you as pitches come in, and all you have to do is reply that you are interested (cc: Kyndal & Jamie) and start reading/reviewing. You can do a general review, or you can be more specific and discuss thematic elements, character development, world building, or any aspect of the book you feel will resonate with our audience. It’s that simple!

However, you don’t have to wait for the pitches to come to you. If you have books that you have already read/are reading and would like to write about those, feel free to go ahead and send them in. We only require 3 things:

  1. Please write all reviews in Microsoft Word.
  2. Please include at least one photo to accompany the review and a short blurb about yourself at the end of the post.
  3. Be honest!

Keep in mind that this is a volunteer position, but it’s a great way to get your voice heard across an amazing platform. These days, most of our favorite TV shows and movies are based off of books (e.g. Game of Thrones, The Hunger Games, and etc…) so it’s clear that books have a significant impact on our culture. Let’s show the gatekeepers in the publishing industry that there are multicultural voices out there both reading and writing literary content in ALL genres. The more we get our stories out there and get our voices heard, the better chance we have to push our stories to the next level in pop culture.

If you are interested in reviewing books for BGN, simply send an email along with writing samples to Kyndal with the subject line “BGN Book Review” and list the top 3 genres that you would like to cover (horror, romance, YA, comics…). All genres are welcome!

Kyndal is a free spirit who finds it very hard to describe herself. Tea Snob. Daydreamer. History, Fantasy, & Book Blerd. Cursed with Wanderlust. Jams to show tunes. Obsessed with Hamilton (the musical). Always on the advent of her next adventure.
