She wears a suit that gives her the ability to project superhuman strength and the gift of flight.  Her costume comes with wings and armor that releases sonic blasts.  In costume she is able to shrink down to the size of an insect.  Her powers give her agility, electricity control, stealth, perfect sight, and a vibration wave.


Karen Beecher used her extraordinary intellect and scientific ability to create a super-human suit that gives her the power to shrink to the size of an insect.  In Teen Titans she helped her then boyfriend Mal Duncan also known as the Herald, to look superior to the team by attacking the Teen Titans.  She confessed to Herald and the Titans of her plan, and her quick-witted thinking piqued their interest and as a result they offered her membership to the team.

Karen and Mal later got married and retired from super-heroic activities.  Karen joined S.T.A.R. Labs as a research technician in San Fransisco.  Later she and her husband are recruited by Donna Troy along with Firestorm during infinite crisis. A mishap caused her body to be shrunk to six inches. After this she joins the Doom Patrol where she must take special medication to stop her tiny heart from going into cardiac arrest. Her condition left her marriage strained and she and Mal divorced. She remained with Doom Patrol.

Due to medicinal efforts from Dr. Caulder, she has grown to a height of seven inches, and she can live in a dollhouse.

In episode 10 of the popular short lived series Young Justice, Karen is introduced in the animated TV show.  She is a popular student and cheerleader who are also called “The Bumblebees”.

Following the disbandment of the Doom Patrol, Bumblebee appears as one of the former Titans who arrives aTitans Tower to repel Superboy-Prime and the Legion of Doom.

Karen is skilled in physics, computer technology and political science.
