Candice is a former editor of Essence Magazine, and a NABJ recipient. She is passionate about film and diversity in pop culture. She strives to celebrate the complexities and diversities within the black culture and move away from the too prevalent thought that black culture is monolithic. She was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts and has made her home in New York City for more than a decade now. She is a health and fitness advocate and self-proclaimed TV and pop culture junkie.
She has officially declared herself addicted to twitter and loves chatting about pop culture with anyone who would listen, even if they may have a different opinion. “I think our dissimilarities are what make us unique and interesting as individuals. If you ask me what my favorite movie is, it typically changes on a daily basis, so today I will say Closer, Boomerang and The Exorcist (the latter is also an excellent book).”
