She’s a legend, an icon, a force of nature and delivers the best one-liners. Who is she? Why it’s the one and only Edna Mode of course, back once more in Disney/Pixar’s Incredibles 2.
In the newest promo for the highly anticipated animated sequel, Edna receives a multitude of accolades from some of fashion’s most famous designers, stylists, and models. Much like her real-world counterpart and director Brad Bird’s inspiration, Edith Head, Edna is an icon of the fashion industry. Her innovative designs receive standing ovations at fashion shows and save lives in battle. As the designer of choice for superheroes, Edna has created perfect blends of style and functionality while staying steadfast to her one rule of “No capes” – and who can blame her – those things are a accidents waiting to happen.
In Incredibles 2 Helen ‘AKA’ Elastigirl (Holly Hunter) is called upon and accepts a mission to find and bring back “supers”. While Helen is off fighting crime, Bob (Craig T. Nelson) is learning how to manage as a stay at home dad to his pre-teen daughter Violet (Sarah Vowell), hyperactive Dash (Huck Milner) and baby Jack-Jack. As Bob struggles to adjust to the new, and at times, volatile development of Jack-Jack’s superpowers, he seeks the help of his best friend Frozone (Samuel L. Jackson) and sage wisdom of Edna who very succinctly tells him “I am not a baby person, I’m an artist.”
Incredibles 2 opens in theatres June 15, 2018, and picks up where The Incredibles ended, with the introduction of The Underminer (truly one of the best villain names ever) and it seems Edna may have her own nemesis in another designer named Galbaki.
