A film about small things is expanding. Hannah John-Kamen has been announced to be attached to Marvel Studio’s Ant-Man and The Wasp directed by Peyton Reed. John-Kamen is a British actress, who is known for her work in Netflix/Channel 4’s Black Mirror, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the upcoming Steven Spielberg film Ready Player One (2018) and the forthcoming Tomb Raider reboot.  You can currently find her in Syfy’s Killjoys

As it stands, not much is known about the sequel to 2015’s Ant-Man. Marvel Studios has been very tight-lipped about the storyline of the film, so we do not know what most of the character’s story will be. What we do know is Evangeline Lilly’s character of Hope Van Dyne/The Wasp will have more of an active role in this film than last one (it’s in the title). With one woman co-leading this film, which is an improvement from the lack of women in the first movie, there is an opportunity for the sequel to pass the Bechdel Test finally. Here is hoping that John-Kamen’s role will allow her to bring her brand of Black Girl Magic to the Pym side of the Marvel Universe.

Ant-Man and The Wasp has been set for July 6, 2018.
