Happy Singles Awareness Day to every single girl out there without a cuddlebug for Valentine’s Day. Last year I wrote a post about various activities you can elect to partake in if you are a member of the Lonely Hearts Club today. I’ve honestly spent more Valentine’s Days throughout my adulthood single than I have in an actual relationship. I don’t know what that says exactly about my love life. Or even my social life for that matter.
We will not even delve into the area of a sex life. Oh dear.
*Ahem* so as I was saying today is the day where we are unremittingly prompted to be aware that if you are single then you are a loser. Yes, if you are single and without a significant other in your life, than somehow you are just another peon amongst a group of privileged people who are in a relationship. The relationship could be doomed for failure or completely miserable, but they are with someone and you are not.
Therefore you suck.
Enough with all of this self-pity BS, let’s keep it real. Valentine’s Day is just a Hallmark holiday used as a means to generate ridiculously high profits to card companies, flower companies, chocolate industries, and several retailers to use love as capital to produce earnings and high returns.
Or maybe I’m just bitter that I won’t get a teddy bear, bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolates this year.
I’m sticking with the capitalism argument.
So I’ve decided to take a moment to *pretend* that the eligible bachelors listed below (meaning they’re not married and still on the market) will be your future Valentine. Yes, you are more than welcome to comment below on the sexy men I may have missed. That’s what discussion threads are for.
Have you ever heard of the book The Secret by Rhonda Byrne? I say if you keep repeating his name over and over and say the following chant:
________________ will be my Valentine and he will fall madly in love with me.
I’m pretty sure the odds of the two of you being together will increase substantially.
May the odds be ever in your favor.
Enjoy the only day of the year that works diligently to remind us that we are all single ladies!
