Face it: when you’re sitting at a desk all day, staring at a computer, you need brain food. And I’m not talking about jolly ranchers or a giant bag of cheetos. For me, this so-called brain snackin’ doesn’t really have anything to do with hunger; it’s more of a mental stimulation. So since I’ve reinvented my way of eating, I’ve started collecting things like almonds, luna bars and various fruits to pack in my bag along with my lunch to bring to work.

But after recently discovering the Nature Box brand, I’ve since added a few more healthy snack items to my daily intake. Here are a few of my new favorites:

Dried California Peaches: Not all dried fruit are created equal. That is to say, just because you like the regular version of the fruit, doesn’t mean you’ll like its dried counterpart. Likewise, just because you like one dried fruit doesn’t meant you’ll like another one. Which is why I was surprised to discover that these dried chewy peaches are actually quite flavorful. With zero grams of fat and only 100 calories, this is the ultimate guiltless snack.

Cinnamon Spiced Almonds: When I was a kid, I remember my grandparents constantly snacking on cans of almonds all day. No salt, unroasted, just plain. I got so sick and tired of them. But ever since I read about all the health benefits they contain (namely, they help prevent heart disease, diabetes and cardiovascular disease), almonds have kinda become my thing. While I’ve tried several different kinds of almonds that I like, this sweet flavor has a refreshing taste that is very satisfying.

Salsa Spiced Nut Mix: If you’re like me and often have a wicked craving for chips, this crunchy almond and cashew mix is for you. This combo snack, which includes corn chips, cashews and spicy seasonings, bursts with flavor and lingers on your tongue long after you’ve devoured the whole 4 oz bag. With just 12 grams of carbs, you don’t ever have to feel bad about not having just one!

Whole Wheat Blueberry Figgy Bars: Much like go-to luna bars, these yummy bite-sized snacks are so addictive! Since I’ve incorporated more whole wheat and fruit in my diet, this has the best of both worlds. And did I mention how delicious they are? Note: they easily crumble, so have a napkin handy (you’ll probably enjoy eating them so much that you might not even notice the pile of crumbs on your lap).
