Insidious: The Last Key

I love the Insidious films. They are scary and have had some great actors. Not to mention the music has always been the most sinister part. The official trailer for the new addition to this franchise dropped September 5th, and it was tantalizing. Insidious: The Last Key is the fourth film in this franchise and it looks like the horror will continue.

The trailer starts with a creepy house, a girl in the basement, and a shadowy figure lurking behind a wall. A pretty good start as an invitation to a horror film. We learn a ghost can lock your voice so you can’t scream. That’s creepy, uncharted territory. Insidious: The Last Key follows fan-favorite Elise Rainier, played by Lin Shaye, as we discover what’s been haunting her in her family home. Confirmed as another prequel, Insidious: The Last Key takes place after the events of Insidious: Chapter 3. The film explores Elise’s beginnings and her hometown of Five Keys. Elise will have to venture deeper into The Further to solve this case. Along with trusty sidekicks Specs and Tucker, Elise will have to face numerous ghosts and demons to make it out alive. Leigh Whannell who plays Specs is back as the writer for this film, having previously written Insidious 1, 2, and 3.

James Wan is an amazing producer and director. His cinematic universe of horror is taking over the genre. Coming off the success of Annabelle: Creation, I look forward to this next Insidious chapter. Directed by Adam Robitel (The Taking of Deborah Logan), Insidious: The Last Key comes out in theaters January 5, 2018.
