At the end of the Issue #17, our girl Stormer was in some serious danger and the whole crew (the Holograms + their respective boyfriends) were headed out to look for her.  Issue #18 starts in the car with Kimber, Shana, and Tony. Kimber is consumed with worry over Stormer, and it’s clear Shana and Tony have some news.  Over in Jerrica and Rio’s car, Rio confesses Jem kissed him. Jerrica is suspiciously unconcerned and Rio questions whether Jem is trustworthy, but Jerrica tries to ease his concerns by reminding him they were all behaving strangely during that time.  It doesn’t work and their talk distracts Jerrica from the road just long enough for them to crash into Stormer’s vehicle.

Jerrica and Rio are now stranded without a cell phone signal too. They hope the others will come looking for them when they don’t hear back, but in the meantime, they decide to look for Stormer. The first thing they find is a torn scrap of her clothing stuck on a tree branch. Uh oh. It’s clear Stormer entered the woods in a hurry and that can’t be a good sign.

Back in LA, the Misfits are out tearing up the club and Roxy can’t hear anything anyone is saying properly.  Pizzazz gets the idea to randomly play a pop-up show at the club and Roxy rightfully reminds her that Stormer isn’t there. Pizz says they don’t need her. Rox and Jetta aren’t really cool with that idea, but Pizzazz says they should wake up to the fact that Stormer is a traitor. Roxy isn’t having it and tells Pizz how Stormer was her biggest defender while she was out, but Pizz doesn’t want to hear as she’s too busy being an unappreciative jerk.

Back on the road, Jerrica and Rio argue over whether they should both go look for Stormer or if Jerrica should stay with the car and wait for the others.  The argument is soon interrupted by a roar and a scream. They both take off toward the noise and find Stormer hiding in some bushes looking terrified.  She quickly informs them there’s a bear and starts beating herself up for panicking.  She’s terrified but other than a sprained ankle, she isn’t hurt. The bear returns, but Jerrica quickly takes care of the situation by having Synergy create a distraction via a holographic bear. With the real bear distracted, they all hightail it back to the road where they find Aja and Craig. Kimber arrives soon after and has the cutest reunion with her woman.

Stormer is still shaken when they get back to the house, but she doesn’t want to get to the hospital.  When Stormer and Rio start talking about what happened and identify the second bear as a grizzly, Kimber realizes something is up and pulls Jerrica aside — Aja and Shana follow.  Kimber is pissed Jerrica has traumatized Stormer with her hologram, though it saved their lives. In the middle of the argument, Shana yells that she’s quitting the band. What?!

The girls don’t believe what they’ve just heard, but Shana reiterates she’s quitting.  She wanted to wait for a better time and get through the recording of the new album first, but she’s serious.  Kimber is immediately furious, saying she feels abandoned and betrayed, but Jerrica steps in with a cooler head. It turns out Shana wants to try her hand at fashion full-time.  She’s gotten a highly coveted internship which requires being in Milan for at least three months, so there’s no way to do both.  Aja and Jerrica understand and wish she’d told them so they could have supported her.  Kimber is still hurt and feels like Shana is breaking them up.

The issue ends with the four of them having a good cry together.  There’s another little surprise in this issue, but you’ll have to read it to find out.

This was a great issue with lots of action. There’s still not much of a new storyline at this point, but it’s clear something big is coming. There’s turmoil in both the Holograms and Misfits camps and it’s going to be interesting to see how things play out for all of them.

Could this really be the end of Jem & the Holograms as we know them?  Is Pizzazz working on kicking Stormer out of the band?  I have a theory, but I don’t want to spoil anything if I’m right. If you want to know what I’m thinking, hit me up on Twitter!
