Official Trailer for ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Drops & It’s Glorious

Beautiful women, hot men, fast cars and couture fashion and this is just in the first few seconds of the first official teaser trailer for Crazy Rich Asians.

Based on the novel by Kevin Kwan’s book Crazy Rich Asians is a romantic comedy starring Constance Wu as Rachel Chu (Fresh Off The Boat) and Henry Golding (A Simple Favor, 2018) as Nick Young. When Chinese economics professor Rachel travels to Singapore with fellow professor and extremely hot boyfriend Nick (I’m sorry, do I sound a bit thirsty), she discovers that he comes from a world where luxury has a whole new meaning. As Nick shows Rachel how much fun being rich can be she learns the old adage ‘everything that glitters isn’t gold’ has some truth to it.

I have been looking forward to this film since its announcement, after too many years we finally get a North American produced film about Asian cast and they’re not clichéd stereotypes. It is my hope that this will be a continuation of a positive trend in Hollywood where we see more films like Crazy Rich Asians and Black Panther with large ensemble casts representative of people from marginalized communities get to see themselves as characters that are complex and in settings we’ve yet to see on screen.

Directed by Johnathan Murray Chu (G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Step Up 2: The StreetsCrazy Rich Asians stars Awkwafina (Ocean’s 8), Ken Jeong, Lisa Lu and the glorious Michelle Yeoh (Star Trek: Discovery). The film was written by Adele Lim and Peter Chiarelli, was produced by Nina Jacobson and Brian Simpson of Color Force, and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros and released into theatres August 17, 2018.
