Last night during the Christmas Special, we finally got our first look at the new season of Doctor Who. What do we know so far? Bill, our new companion played by the beautiful Pearl Mackie, works in the kitchen of a university the Doctor is lecturing at. Somehow she gets embroiled in whatever mystery the Doctor is there investigating. So far Bill seems quick, full of questions, and funny. I can’t wait to see what she brings to this universe.
I got a chance to sit down with Pearl Mackie at New York Comic Con. When I asked her about how excited she was to get the part, she replied:
On a scale from 1 to excited, I was excited.
She called it the “most incredible thing that ever happened to her.” Pearl described Bill as being “completely fresh to this world.” The Doctor is dealing with challenges by the way she reacts to the strange situations he always seems to end up in. In some more exciting news, Mackie knows everything about our website Black Girl Nerds! From the trailer, it also looks like Nardole (played by Matt Lucas), who we met in The Husbands of River Song, will also be traveling with the Doctor.
We still don’t have a release date. Hopefully, it won’t be too far into 2017. In case you missed it, check out the trailer below:
