On February 4th-6th, SUBSUME Media will host a three-day long celebration of pop culture, creativity and technological innovation called Subsume Summit: Black Futures Month. Subsume Summit: Black Futures Month is a celebration of current innovators in media tech and social entrepreneurship who are prime examples of today’s Black History in the making. For the community at large, SUBSUME Summit: Black Futures Month is an opportunity to meet well-known film and entertainment personalities, chat with innovators in the creative and STEM industries, and preview many upcoming works being developed by SUBSUME Media which speak to the intersection of media and technology.
Subsume Summit: Black Futures Month will highlight the many contributions of the Black community to the convergence of STEM and the arts. Running in tandem with the month long celebration of Black History Month, the panels and workshops featured at Subsume Summit: Black Futures Month will focus on such topics as Blacks in Gaming, the contributions of Black creators to the animation field, using gaming to teach at educational spaces such as the University of Virgin Islands, and being a builder of the Black Metaverse.
“The idea of SUBSUME, by definition, is to be included in something else — to find where you are intersecting with where you want to be. Effortless yet empowered,” said Dedren Snead, Founder of SUBSUME Media, artist and entrepreneur. “That’s how it feels living in Atlanta right now — the cultural center of the world. The event will feature such participating entities as Microsoft/ XBOX, The Kubert School, HBCU Con, and Georgia Tech. Subsume Summit: Black Futures Month will also include a bevy of important guests from both the creative and tech fields. The list of guests includes Dr. Nashlie Sephus (AI Scientist, ML Tech Evangelist) actor Orlando Jones (American Gods, The Time Machine, MADTv), Jay Francis (VP Current Series and Diversity, Disney Television Animation), and Mutale Nkonde (founding CEO of AI For the People (AFP) ).
Rounding out the day’s discussion will be a look into Subsume Media’s own creative projects. These include such titles as Sorghum and Spear, Armadus, Soul Nebula, The Ravel Code, Mine to Avenge, and the Temporal Tenth.
