Taraji is taking names. Earlier this week we reported about the first poster, released exclusively by Buzzfeed. Now, we have the first trailer for Proud Mary. The synopsis of the film explains that Taraji is playing Mary, a hit woman working for an organized crime family in Boston, whose life is completely turned around when she meets a young boy whose path she crosses when a professional hit goes bad. In the trailer, we see Mary getting ready for a job and kicking ass with brief glimpses of Billy Brown (How To Get Away with Murder) and Jahi Di’Allo Winston (The New Edition Story). With the crooning of Tina Turner in the forefront and the stylized font of the Foxy Brown posters appearing at the end, we’re looking forward to what’s in store.

Proud Mary will be directed by Babak Najafi and will be in theaters on January 12, 2018.
