But that’s not all!
This year we are making this a full-on virtual party! We have put together snacks and drinks for you to prepare for this special occasion.
Our #BGNOscarDrinks are named after some of the nominees!
“Bathed in Moonlight” – “in Moonlight, black boys look blue.”
Two parts Gin
1 part Blue curaçao
1 part Cointreau®
5 Parts Pineapple Juice
1/4 tablespoon Half and half
1 Lime slice
1 Maraschino cherry
Pour Gin, Cointreau and blue curacao in a cocktail shaker, add a few cubes of ice and pineapple juice last but not the least add half n half in it. Close the shaker and shake well.
Pour the drink into a champagne tulip glass garnish it with a slice of lime and maraschino cherry spiked with a toothpick.
“City of Stars” – pretty to look at but not much to it *shrug*
1 oz Malibu Pineapple Rum
1/2 oz strawberry puree mix
3 oz orange juice
Shake with ice, strain into glass, garnish with a kiwi slice. Done. Just like the movie.
“Black Girl Magic” – “we get shit done.”
Combine first five ingredients in a 4-quart slow cooker. Cover and cook on LOW 4 to 5 hours or until thoroughly heated and chocolate is melted, whisking after 2 hours. Whisk before serving. Serve with sweetened whipped cream and grated chocolate, if desired.
“Doing Right By You” – “You got to take the crooks with the straights.”
1½ ounces vodka/ 1½ ounces sour apple liqueur/ Splash of Angostura Bitters /Generous splash of chilled ginger beer /1-2 maraschino cherry/ 1 Cinnamon stick/ Fresh Ice
“The Lion” – “You can go home again.”
Three jalapeño discs
1 ounce of agave syrup
1/2 ounce of lemon juice
1 ounce of pineapple juice
Eight mint leaves
2 ounces of Don Julio Silver
Fill a shaker halfway with ice. Pour in all ingredients, liquid and otherwise, and shake well. Pour, ice and all, into a snifter. Garnish with a mint leaf wrapped around a blueberry.
And we did not forget the best animation nominees!
“Try Everything!” – “life’s a jungle.”
Combine all ingredients (sans Brut) in a mixing glass with ice, shake vigorously and strain. Top with Brut and garnish with rose petals.
1 oz. vodka
1/2 oz. blue curacao
1/3 oz. grapefruit juice
1-2 splashes simple syrup
Add all ingredients to a shaker filled with ice; shake, then strain and serve either straight up in a martini glass or over ice. Garnish with an orange slice & tropical flower.
And we have two dips you can create to help handle all the alcohol!
Jamie’s Spicy Guac
4 Avocados, Concord Foods Guacamole Mix, 2 diced Roma Tomatoes, Texas Pete Hot sauce, Black Olives, Dash of lemon or lime juice.
Kayla’s Rotel Dip
(can double/triple ingredients) One can of hot Rotel tomatoes//1 block of a cream cheese//1 roll of hot breakfast sausage(can substitute with ground turkey sausage ~ In a pan, brown sausage. Once finished, drain. In another pot, pour in tomatoes and cream cheese, cook until cream cheese and tomatoes are thoroughly mixed. Mix in sausage and drop the temperature to low. Serve with tortilla chips and enjoy!
