- 2024 must have been a stressful one:
- The ‘chill’ tag was used more than any other on Twitch.
- We watched 100.6 million hours of ASMR to help us relax, and find community and calmness in cozy gaming.
- Cozy games like Stardew Valley grew to 23.6 million hours watched.
- McDonald’s Chicken Big Mac was the go-to streaming snack of the year, thanks to Kai Cenat, defeating perennial contender “a whole rotisserie chicken.”

- The :bratchat: emote was used over 3 million times, proving just how much Charli XCX took over the world and turned it ‘brat’ this year.
- /thesketchreal had a huge year, and his signature “what’s up brother!” was Phrase of the Year, used by everyone from streamers to pro athletes. And his favorite brother Jynxzi crushed it in 2024 too, growing his community by 101.3%! Now THAT’S what’s up.
- From Tyla to John Cena, Twitch was so famous in 2024 that famous people just kept showing up. There were over 713K peak viewers during the June 10 livestream of Kai Cenat’s sleepover with Kevin Hart and Druski.
- GTA V was the top category of the year, as well as the global game of the year, with 1.46 billion hours watched – winning Grand Theft Auto VI the honor of the most anticipated game of 2025.

- Games on the big screen shined even further on stream in 2024, with Fallout dubbed as Twitch’s 2025 Post Apocalyptic Hellscape of the Year. The game had peak viewership in April at 10 million hours watched and 38.5 million hours streamers for all of 2024.
- Elden Ring has everyone going hard this year – Kai even had to get a therapist to get him through the end of the game! But no one was as dedicated as /missmikkaa, who beat the final boss using nothing but a dance pad and a DualSense controller after 239 attempts.
- A few standout streamers of the year include:
- /kaicenat who holds the all time sub record with 727K subs during his Mafiathon 2 subathon.
- /rivers_gg who grew her community to 6.48 million followers this year with 10.9 million hours watched, and was voted Streamer of the Year at the Esports Awards.
- /banda_chosuke, the vtuber and GTA V roleplayer grew 134% in hours watched in 2024.
- /caseoh_ had a meteoric rise, gaining 4.9 million followers over 2024.
