Who Are We?

Black Girl Nerds is an online publication and multimedia space that is the intersection of geek culture and Black feminism.

We provide the latest coverage in entertainment from film/TV, comics, book reviews, travel, gaming and more. BGN shares op-eds on politics, social issues, and historical hidden figures. We offer a weekly podcast available wherever your stream your favorite shows and feature interviews from celebrities to indie creators. We represent a wide array of diverse opinions that embrace all cultures and refuse to conform to the status quo. BGN is notably known for providing a perspective under an intersectional lens on geek and fandom culture.

Founder/CEO – Jamie Broadnax

Jamie Broadnax is the Founder and CEO of the online publication Black Girl Nerds. Jamie Broadnax graduated with a Master’s Degree in Film from Regent University and a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism at Norfolk State. She’s covered some of the greatest entertainers from cultural tastemaker Ta-Nehisi Coates to billionaire media mogul Oprah Winfrey.  Outside of BGN, Jamie has written for Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, The New York Post, The Huffington Post, Vox, Vulture, IGN, Essence Magazine, The Lily (The Washington Post) and SYFY. 

She is the executive producer and (sometimes) host of the Black Girl Nerds podcast, also known as the BGN Podcast. Upon building BGN’s social media presence on Twitter, she was cited by Shonda Rhimes in Marie Claire Magazine as @blackgirlnerds being one of her favorite Twitter accounts. She was accredited by MSNBC’s The Grio Top 100 list for being an online community builder in the tech space. She is also a film critic and member of the Alliance of Women Film Journalists and the Critics Choice Association respectively. She tweets @JamieBroadnax.

Angelica Monk is an Afro-Latina, working mom, writer, podcaster, social media wiz, and proud Disney enthusiast who enjoys covering music festivals, popular fandoms, and beloved TV shows. Archuleta is an author, poet, blogger, and host of the FearlessINK podcast. Archuleta's work centers Black women, mental health and wellness, and inspiring people to live their fullest potential.

Beverly is a Technical Writer by profession who enjoys all things celebrity news and pop culture.

Cassondra Feltus

Cassondra Feltus is a St. Louis-based freelance writer best known for film, television, and pop culture analysis which has appeared on Black Girl Nerds, WatchMojo, and The Take. She loves naps, Paul Rudd, and binge-watching the latest series with her two gorgeous pups – Harry and DeVito.

Catalina Combs

Born and raised in Southern California, Catalina is a freelance journalist and film critic. You can also find her work on blackfilm.com and documentary.org. She has moderated and served on film panels, interviewed casts and crews of various films, and has been a juror for the New Orleans Film Festival. Catalina is a member of numerous critics' associations, including the Critics Choice Association, African American Film Critics Association, the Online Association of Female Film Critics, and the Hollywood Creative Alliance, as well as a Rotten Tomatoes-approved critic.

Celestial Holmes

Celestial Holmes is passionate about the power of prose, and she uses it to uplift her people for various Afrocentric outlets. She is also a published author, writing under the pseudonym Mbinguni.

Donnie Lopez

Donnie Lopez is a gay Latino/Hispanic social and political commentator, writer, entertainment journalist, and professor. He writes on topics that affect Hispanic/Latino culture. With his novel insight, veracity, and sense of humor, he entertains as well as educates the world.

E.Angel is an engineer and holds a BS in electrical engineering from North Carolina A&T State University. In her spare time she works at her comic book store – Brainstorm Comics and Gaming - when she is not reading comic books. Jeandra LeBeauf

Jeandra LeBeauf is a Los Angeles-based sports and entertainment reporter, host, producer, and film critic. Known for creating memorable interview moments by infusing technical knowledge and down-to-earth humor, LeBeauf has become a regular fixture in interviews and on the red carpet as part of some of the film and TV industry’s most significant releases, in addition to independent films. LeBeauf is also a board member of the Hollywood Creatives Alliance and a member of the African-American Film Critics Association.

Jeanine T. Abraham

Jeanine is a Writer, Actor, member SAG/AFTRA, AEA, Podcast host, Producer, CEO VisAbleBlackWoman Productions, Certified Health Coach and Conscious Dance facilitator. Jeanine's mission, centering Black women's stories to preserve our legacies.
