The long and excruciating wait for Jordan Peele‘s next movie, which remains untitled for the time being, finally has a new release window: October 23, 2026.

Following the massive commercial and critical success of his previous directorial works, which include 2017’s Get Out, 2019’s Us, and 2022’s Nope — all horror — the fans were excited when comedy actor-turned-horror-filmmaker announced his fourth film, setting the release date for December 25, 2024. And this made sense; as previously seen, there’s usually a two or three year gap between Peele’s movies. This is actually quite impressive, considering that in just seven years, Peele produced eight movies, six of which he wrote and three of which he directed.

The initial announcement for his fourth film’s release date dropped in March 2023, with Universal stating that the movie would compete against the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Nosferatu. Unfortunately, that won’t happen because Jordan Peele’s fourth film was pulled from the release calendar due to the SAG-AFTRA’s strikes that had paralyzed Hollywood and delayed not just this movie but nearly everything that was at different stages of production at that point. What was even more concerning to Peele’s fans was the absence of a new release date.

Everyone believed that the movie would come out in 2025. In the end, that assumption seemed logical. The strike lasted just under four months, and if the production picked up right where it left off, it would delay the movie for four months. That would be true if everyone involved were just sitting at their stations with nothing else to do — which most definitely isn’t the case. Production and post-production are exhausting work, and with hours that often go beyond the typical 9-5 work schedule, there’s plenty of logistical work to be handled. It’s not just “action-cut-done.”

That aside, Jordan Peele’s fourth film finally has a release date, and through the wait is nearly two years longer than we expected, the fandom finally has a date to look forward to. That is, unless SAG-AFTRA decides on yet another strike because, apparently, this one is still going on. However, instead of Hollywood, they initiated a labor strike against all video game companies signed to the Interactive Media Agreement.

Just like with Get Out, Us, and Nope, Jordan Peele remains highly secretive about his upcoming movie, and the details remain scarce. Even his announcement of a new release date was just that, a date announcement on X (formerly Twitter), with no additional context. The movie still doesn’t have an official title, Peele isn’t ready to disclose any information, and there’s speculation that the upcoming movie will serve as the follow-up to Nope. But nothing has been confirmed thus far. He stated in his interview with Conan O’Brien that this could be his favorite movie if he made it right.

Beyond these slivers of information, nothing else is known about the project, ranging from the logline to any prospective cast members. Apparently, Jordan Peele is more secretive than the MCU. But then again, he doesn’t have Tom Holland to accidentally reveal stuff he shouldn’t. All we can expect from the movie is Peele’s signature suspense and social commentary, which the director has become known for. Peele made a name for himself in the thriller and horror genre with Get Out before directing the aforementioned Us and Nope.

2017’s Get Out catapulted Peele from the comedy star into the A-tier list of auteur directors. The movie received widespread critical acclaim for its screenplay, direction, acting, and social critiques. It also won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay at the 90th Academy Awards with additional nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor. Not only that, but it was also cited as one of the best movies of the twenty-first century. His subsequent movie, Us, was nominated for 63 different awards, of which it won 40.

Similar things can be said for Nope; the sci-fi horror movie, dubbed of the best sci-fi movies of all time. Nope received 173 nominations for different awards, of which it won 43. Judging by this pattern, we can expect Jordan Peele’s fourth movie to be at least equally, if not more, successful than its predecessors. And while the wait for his upcoming movie is a bit longer than originally anticipated. Horror fans can look forward to Him, Justin Tipping’s upcoming horror movie that’s produced by Jordan Peele, with Marlon Wayans in the leading role.

Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions and Universal Pictures have set the psychological horror movie in the high-stakes and hard-hitting world of football, with Wayans portraying a legendary quarterback who takes on the role of mentoring a young and rising football star. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on September 19, 2025, just over a year shy from the release of Jordan Peele’s mysterious fourth film.
