During the month of February to celebrate Black History Month, Netflix will debut its latest project, a podcast from the “Strong Black Lead” vertical of its company. “Strong Black Lead” launched in February 2018, it is a team inside Netflix focused on engaging with and empowering the Black audience and being a proud platform for Black creatives in Hollywood.
The podcast will premiere February 12 and the debut season of the podcast honors “Strong Black Legends” whose works have made an impact on Hollywood and Black entertainment culture.
The series is hosted by Tracy Clayton, most notably known for her podcast “Another Round” from Buzzfeed Entertainment. She will interview the artists featured and will unearth untold stories from their career-defining moments
Season 1 guests include Lynn Whitfield (Nappily Ever After, A Thin Line Between Love and Hate, Greenleaf), Academy Award nominee Ruth E. Carter (Black Panther, Do The Right Thing, Dolemite is My Name), Garrett Morris (first black actor on SNL, Martin, The Jamie Foxx Show), Loretta Devine (Family Reunion, Waiting to Exhale), John Witherspoon (Friday, The Wayans Bros.), Bill Duke (High Flying Bird, Sister Act 2) and more surprises to come.
