22 years after the first film, the sequel to Jumanji will hit theaters right before Christmas! A continuation of the iconic film that starred the super talented Robin Williams (R.I.P.) as Alan Parrish was a classic in its own right. The film centered around a game that Alan gets trapped in for 26 years after one night of playing with his friend Sarah Whittle (Bonnie Hunt). Sarah is devastated by what she witnessed and is forced to move on with her life, despite Alan never reappearing. Two kids move into the old Parrish residence with their aunt following the death of their parents, and the game calls out to them. Basically, they release Alan (Yay!), but also unleash one of the greatest adventures (some might say disasters) the town has ever seen!
In the end, we hope that the game is never opened again, but come this December, we are going to see a new era in Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle. This sequel begins with 4 high school students in detention that find a version of the game. Instead of Jumanji rummaging through their town, they are sucked into the game and taken to the jungle. In the jungle, they are the adult avatars of themselves, which I am sure will make for an interesting twist for a sequel, sure to maintain the spirit and heart of the original. Check out the clip below of the cast spilling all the secrets about the film, in theaters December 20th!
Abbreviated press release below:
In the brand new adventure Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, the tables are turned as four teenagers in detention are sucked into the world of Jumanji. When they discover an old video game console with a game they’ve never heard of, they are immediately thrust into the game’s jungle setting, into the bodies of their avatars, played by Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan. What they discover is that you don’t just play Jumanji – Jumanji plays you. They’ll have to go on the most dangerous adventure of their lives, or they’ll be stuck in the game forever…
