Today Focus Features released the trailer for the film Harriet, based on the life of the legendary activist Harriet Tubman.
Harriet follows Tubman on her escape from slavery and subsequent missions to free dozens of slaves through the Underground Railroad in the face of growing pre-Civil War adversity.

along the way — and her subsequent missions to free hundreds of slaves through the Underground Railroad in the face of growing pre-Civil War adversity. With the guidance of GOD and her heroic faith-fueled expedition, Tubman earned the monumental nickname of “Moses”.
The film stars actor Cynthia Erivo playing the titular character and is directed by Kasi Lemmons (Eve’s Bayou, Talk to Me).
The film also stars Leslie Odom Jr., Janelle Monáe, Joe Alwyn, Jennifer Nettles, Clarke Peters.
Focus Features and Universal Pictures International will distribute the film worldwide.
The film releases in theaters nationwide November 1, 2019.
