Now that Marvel has found their rhythm when it comes to releasing quality projects, the studio is approaching a year full of heavy hitters. Kevin Feige has been criticized in the past for churning out a higher quantity of films and shows that lacked depth and underperformed at the box office. In an interview earlier this year, he spoke about bringing the MCU back to its peak stating, “I’m much more comfortable being the underdog. I prefer being able to surprise and exceed expectations.”
At the moment, Marvel is slated for a combination of eight shows and movies, with one still having no movement at all. Mahershala Ali’s Blade was slated for a November 7, 2025, release date, but has been postponed indefinitely. Since it was announced five years ago, it has been plagued with directors and writers exiting, leaving fans doubtful that the film will ever see the light of day. Nonetheless, there is still a lot to look forward to so let’s take a look at what’s in store for 2025.
Eyes of Wakanda
The world of Black Panther expands as it receives an animated series that details the life of Wakandan warriors as they travel the world to locate vibranium artifacts. Eyes of Wakanda was previewed at this years D23 event, with Ryan Coogler and Todd Harris introducing footage to the fans. They shared some insight as to what the series holds, with a new character named Noni being introduced as a disrupter in Wakanda. They teased the possible inclusion of Iron Fist after mentioning a character “with a glowing fist” in addition to “certain characters that paid the price for [the] secrecy” that Wakanda needed to maintain secluded. No exact release date has been announced, but we should know something as we step into the new year.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
The animated series joins Marvel Animation’s lineup on January 29, 2025. The show emphasizes the “neighborhood” in Spider-Man’s title, focusing on Peter Parker as a friendly, relatable teen balancing high school with superhero duties. With humor, warmth, and lots of web-slinging, this series will likely capture the spirit of Spider-Man’s classic adventures while making them accessible to a new generation. If you’re a Spider-Man fan or have kids ready to dive into the Marvel universe, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man could be the perfect intro to the web-slinger’s legacy!
Marvel Zombies
Coming just in time for Halloween 2025 is Marvel Zombies. The series is an animated spinoff of the popular What If…? episode that introduced a universe where a zombie plague has infected the Marvel heroes. Building on the dark, gritty tone of the original episode, Marvel Zombies will dive deeper into a world overrun by undead versions of iconic characters, exploring how survivors struggle to endure in the apocalyptic Marvel Universe.
Unlike other Marvel projects on Disney+, Marvel Zombies is expected to push boundaries with darker themes, making it the first animated Marvel series to have a TV-MA rating. Familiar characters like Blade, Hawkeye, and Black Widow and more will make appearances as either survivors or terrifying zombie versions, bringing intense battles and morally complex decisions into the story.
Wonder Man
The original, live-action series Wonder Man is poised to release in December 2025. Marvel’s Wonder Man series is set to bring one of the more quirky, lesser-known Avengers to Disney+ in an exciting new way. Wonder Man, aka Simon Williams, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, is a character with a unique origin and a personality that’s half-hero, half-Hollywood diva. Known as an Avenger with super strength, ionic energy powers, and a complicated past, he’s also famously been an actor in the Marvel Comics, leading to stories that often mix superhero action with showbiz satire. Ben Kingsley will reprise his role as Trevor Slattery, the bumbling, actor-turned-fake Mandarin we last saw in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which could hint at an emphasis on Hollywood absurdity within the Marvel world. For fans of Marvel’s offbeat heroes, Wonder Man promises an entertaining mix of Tinseltown glamour, action, and superhero satire that brings out the best (and quirkiest) sides of the Marvel Universe.
Captain America: Brave New World
With a Valentine’s Day release date, Captain America: Brave New World kicks off Marvel’s slate. It follows Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) as he steps into the role passed down from Steve Rogers. The story picks back up after the events of the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier as Wilson learns to navigate his new responsibilities. President Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford, who we learn is Red Hulk) attempts to convince Wilson to piece the Avengers back together.
This film has a lot of weight on its shoulders, as it’s being positioned to be the turning point for the future of the MCU. Fans are desperate to relive the feeling of running to the theaters when the Avengers movies were released. A lot of people initially were not happy with Wilson wielding the shield and felt it should have been Bucky (Sebastian Stan). Despite that, audiences were impressed with the trailer as it looks wildly entertaining and has that feel of the original Marvel projects. Only time will tell, but Brave New World looks promising and has the potential to generate some serious numbers at the box office.
Daredevil: Born Again
After being cancelled on Netflix in 2018, Disney+ revived the series with its original cast members set to reprise their roles. Through a series of 18 episodes, we will see Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) attempt to leave behind his days of fighting crime and focus on his legal practice. It’ll continue with the events of the original show and fill in the blanks for all that was left unanswered (which is a lot if we’re being honest).
Cox’s Daredevil has been a fan favorite we weren’t ready to say goodbye to and have been eager to see more of. Audiences erupted in applause when he appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home alongside Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, leading fans to believe the two will team up again in the future. Daredevil: Born Again releases on Disney+ March 4, 2025.
Thunderbolts*
When the Avengers can’t get something done, the government calls on the good bad guys. Thunderbolts* is comprised of Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), John Walker (Wyatt Russell), Ava Starr (Hannah John-Kamen), Alexei Shostakov (David Harbour), and Robert Reynolds (Lewis Pullman).
Reactions were dull when the title was first revealed, but that all changed when the trailer dropped, showing just how well put together it turned out. With a team full of misfits, anything is possible, especially when Geraldine Viswanathan stars in an untitled role (The Bear star Ayo Edebiri had to exit the project due to scheduling conflicts). Thunderbolts* kicks off the summer Blockbuster season with a May 2, 2025, release.
Fantastic 4: First Steps
After two lackluster attempts to turn the franchise into a massive success (the Jessica Alba-Chris Evans flicks really weren’t terrible), Feige finally brings Marvel’s favorite family to the MCU on July 25, 2025. The casting process was lengthy, but when the cast was revealed, fans went into a frenzy on social media as they praised the actors who had landed the roles. Pedro Pascal (Mister Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Susan Storm), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing) lead the way in Fantastic Four: Next Steps, with Julia Garner (Silver Silver) and Ralph Ineson (Galactus) filling in as villains.
While we haven’t gotten an official trailer yet, the footage they showed at D23 looked extremely promising (it has not been made public, but leaks made their way online). Not much is known about the plot, but one thing is for sure: we all want this to succeed, so fingers crossed that the third time’s the charm.
Ironheart
After her first appearance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Dominique Thorne will reprise her role as young Riri Williams in Ironheart as a series on Disney+. No details have been made public, but it should expand on Williams being a teenage genius who builds her own suit of armor much like Tony Stark. While the trailer was shown to audiences at Disney’s D23, it hasn’t made its way officially online. Reports say it’ll center around Williams being caught up for the stealing she’s been getting into, with the assistance of her friend, Parker Robbins aka The Hood, played by Anthony Ramos. This one has been highly anticipated for some time, but fans will get to scratch that itch in the later half of the year. Ironheart currently has a tentative release date set for September 3, 2025, based on information from the U.S. Copyright Office.
