A new reality singing competition series is coming to Netflix. The hip-hop themed series, Rhythm & Flow, will consist of three main judges: Cardi B, Chance the Rapper, and T.I. The three rappers are all also executive producers.Â
Rhythm & Flow will be Netflix’s first talent competition. John Legend, Jeff Gaspin, and Jesse Collins are the producers for the series. The series will consist of 10 episodes and take place in numerous cities. It will premiere on Netflix in Fall 2019, with auditions set to begin this fall. Auditions will take place in cities such as Atlanta, New York, and Chicago. The guest judges for the auditions will be well-known rappers who are from the city in which the auditions will take place.
Jesse Collins is the owner of the production company Jesse Collins Entertainment. His company produced the American biographical miniseries The New Edition Story, the game show Hip Hop Squares on VH1, and numerous award shows such as the BET and Soul Train Awards. John Legend has produced and executive produced shows such as the WGN series Underground, and the upcoming documentary United Skates as well as many other titles.
Although Rhythm & Flow is Netflix’s first talent competition, it is not Netflix’s first unscripted series. Netflix has plenty of cooking competition shows such as the unconventional, yet charming show Nailed It! and The Great British Baking Show. They also have the reality series Queer Eye which is a reboot of the Bravo series Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. It’ll be interesting to see how this show holds up.
