I cannot wait to head back to NOLA for the annual Essence Festival! If you missed Essence last year, you definitely do not want miss it this year! Essence Magazine, traditionally known as a staple and pillar of black news & entertainment for decades, gives us not only the hottest interviews & advice columns, but also an incredible festival filled with daytime empowerment seminars, banging nightly concerts, and the musical reunions we have been dreaming of. So, get your friends and significant others, pack a bag, and get ready to spend your 4th of July weekend at the Essence Festival, June 29th-July 2nd!
If you are looking for a guide to which events you should attend, here is a list of some BGN favorites:
- Diana Ross!! Ms. Supreme herself will be headlining the Essence Festival, in what is sure to be one of her most talked about performances!
- The Xscape Reunion! Leave it to Essence to get one of our favorite 90’s groups together to perform live on the Essence stage!
- Ava DuVernay: A BGN all around favorite and the Queen behind the Sugar, is set to grace the empowerment stage with a speech I wouldn’t dream of missing. With 13th, Selma, and A Wrinkle in Time under her belt, I am sure she is going to give a glimpse into her journey in this business and how she so gracefully tackles social injustice and art.
- The Path to Power: Entrepreneurship and Business Conference offers all you BGN go-getters, advice and tons on information on how to create your own labors of love, and how to successfully manage and run them!
Elsewhere over the course of this five-day event, you can give back by participating in Essence Day of Service, check out culinary excellence in Essence Eats, get new faves and old at the Essence Bookstore, or get a beauty consultation at the highly recommended and attend Essence Beauty & Style Expo!
Check out Essence’s the website to purchase tickets and view the official schedule of events! Hope to see you there!
