Black-ish star Marsai Martin has teamed up with DoSomething.org in a campaign to actively combat bullying.
The Treat Yo Friends campaign hopes to tackle bullying and social isolation among young people by celebrating the things that make their friends unique and encouraging them to engage in each other’s interests. According to numbers by DoSomething.org, the largest company exclusively for young people with the goal of social change, one in five students experience bullying — and often because of their unique interests and passions.
In partnership with Takis, the campaign consists of three easy steps: know the facts about bullying, fill out the IOU coupons with activities, and then give your friends the coupon book. Participants who take and upload a photo will be entered to win a $5,000 scholarship. You can also text FRIENDS to 38383 to learn more about the campaign and get tips from DoSomething.org.
The 14-year-old actress — who is set to star in Little, a film based on her original script — shares her top five friendship dos and don’ts to promote the campaign in the video above. Check it out and share!
