Jacqueline is the Director of Festivals and Conventions for @BlackGirlNerds…
When I saw The Incredible Jessica James at Sundance earlier this year. I was filled with so many emotions.
Laughter – Jessica Williams brings every ounce of her charisma to a role that was not only written for her but couldn’t have been pulled off by anyone else but her.
Heartbreak – Her struggles to rebuild after a breakup was so close to my struggles it cut me to the quick.
Elation – Just like Queen Sugar, Insecure, Hidden Figures, Poetic Justice, and Love and Basketball – The Incredible Jessica James IS a movie made for us Black girl nerds.
As we have said many times ‘My black is not your black, and that’s okay‘ BUT this is my black” This is me and so many others like me and I’m beyond excited for the rest of the world to see it.
So, please meet Jessica James. The Incredible Jessica James stars Williams (“The Daily Show”) as a young, aspiring playwright in New York City who is struggling to get over a recent breakup. She is forced to go on a date with the recently divorced Boone, played by Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids) and the unlikely duo discover how to make it through the tough times in a social media obsessed post-relationship universe. Lakeith Stanfield (FX’s “Atlanta,” Straight Outta Compton, Get Out) and Noël Wells (Netflix’s “Master of None”) co-star.
Jessica James debuts on Netflix July 28th.
