Starting in the early 2000s a term to describe a subset of movies produced in the Nigerian film industry produced in Africa, is notably known as Nollywood. The term has become a bit more elusive as it doesn’t always apply to Nigerian productions, but it is widely recognized for movies that are produced on the continent of Africa. If you stream Netflix, and search for the term “African Movies” a subcategory of Nollywood films will show up.
The website Nollywood Reinvented comprised a list of films you can catch this month on Netflix that are Nollywood movies. As the industry grows and gets bigger, more streaming services are lowering the barrier to entry for these films to be seen. Here is the list below in alphabetical order:
