In this week’s episode of the Black Girl Nerds podcast, we welcome actor and author Taraji P. Henson.
Taraji P. Henson is an Academy Award-nominated actor, producer, author, and mental health advocate with a globally celebrated career that extends beyond the screen. Most recently, her producorial efforts on the play, JAJA’s African Hair Braiding, earned her a Tony Award nomination for Best Play. Henson quickly rose to fame after her breakout performance in the critically acclaimed film Hustle & Flow, which earned her and the cast a Screen Actors Guild nomination as well as the BET Award for Best Actress. She was most recently seen in the award-winning musical adaptation of The Color Purple, for which she won an NAACP Image Award and received a Screen Actors Guild ensemble nomination.
In June 2024, she will release her new children’s book, You Can Be a Good Friend (No Matter What!), which was sparked by her desire to show children that they can appreciate other’s differences, as all children have something different about them and that’s what makes them special.
