BGN is ending June, National African American Music Appreciation Month and the first month of summer on a dancing note with the #BGNBlackAssSummer Playlist. We have talked to our fans and our staff to come up with the songs that are unapologetically black and undeniably summer. Here’s BGN’s Black Ass Summer Playlist of over 8 hours of music. Click the #BlackAssSummer Playlist below to on Spotify.
The lifts a piece of summer from several decades of Black music to create the sounds that everyone can identify with. These are the sounds of jelly shoes slapping on the hot pavement, of dancing in the spray of an open fire hydrant, of kids screaming, bomb pops melting in little hands, and days that seemed to go on forever.
If we missed your favorite, tell us. We don’t pretend to know all there about Blackness in summer.  But, we do know a black ass playlist when we see one.
