Disney fans have a new reason to start dreaming about their next vacation. Disney Cruise Line unveiled new details about the Disney Believe on October 7, offering a look at a ship that will bring beloved animated worlds into its dining, entertainment, and gathering spaces. Its maiden voyage is scheduled for December 18, 2027, departing from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

For those of us who build entire trips around our favorite characters, the reveal offers plenty to get excited about. But before guests can step aboard, the ship is celebrating an important construction milestone, with Tinker Bell lending a little symbolic magic along the way.

Natacha Rafalski, President of Disney Signature Experiences, shared her enthusiasm for the progress during remarks about the Disney Believe. Reflecting on a September shipyard visit, she described the excitement of seeing the vessel come together.

“I can tell you, it’s so exciting to visit the shipyard and see the progress,” Rafalski said.

The Disney Believe is under construction at the Meyer Werft Shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. Its first gigablock, one of the large sections assembled to form the vessel, floated out on September 18. With construction on the second section underway, Disney also shared an update on the ship’s keel-laying ceremony.

The ceremony honors a maritime tradition in which a specially crafted coin is temporarily placed beneath the keel, the structural backbone running along the bottom of the ship. For Disney Believe, that coin depicts Tinker Bell, reflecting the character artwork that will decorate its bow.

“The custom, and I think this is really special, is that it’s said to bring good fortune to the vessel and to all who sail aboard her,” Rafalski said.

She explained that the coin symbolically infuses the Disney Believe with the faith, trust, and pixie dust needed to make dreams come true. It is a fitting detail for a ship whose name invites guests to embrace possibility, and a reminder that Disney’s storytelling begins well before anyone checks into a stateroom.

“With this milestone, we’re going to be one step closer to welcoming the Disney Believe into our Disney Cruise Line family, and we’re very excited about that,” Rafalski said.

That sense of possibility carries into the onboard experiences. A Moana-inspired Grand Hall will serve as a central gathering space, while “Disney Encanto” will bring the animated film to the stage in its first-ever stage adaptation. For fans who have spent years singing along with the Madrigals, the prospect of experiencing those songs in a theater at sea is an especially appealing part of the reveal.

Haunted Mansion Parlor and Worlds of Marvel will also return.

Together, these offerings give Disney fandom a place throughout the vacation, from a family meal to an evening performance or a lounge visit. The appeal is getting to spend more time inside the stories we already love, with new settings and experiences to explore.

Rafalski closed her remarks by looking toward the broader future of the company’s travel experiences.

“And with so many incredible experiences on the horizon, I couldn’t be more excited about the future of Disney Cruise Line and of our Disney Signature Experiences businesses.”

The Disney Believe will offer four and five-night sailings to the Bahamas and Caribbean, with general bookings opening October 19, 2026. For now, its unveiling offers fans a first look at the adventures ahead, while its keel-laying ceremony marks another step toward making them a reality.
