Disney Believe’s First Look Makes a Case for Bringing Your Fandom to Sea

Trent Hitchcock knows how to get a room ready for a Disney reveal. Introducing himself as the opening cruise director for the Disney Believe, he greeted the audience with the enthusiasm of someone already preparing to welcome guests aboard.

“My name is Trent Hitchcock, and I am thrilled to be your opening cruise director for the Disney Believe when she makes a maiden voyage next year,” he said.

His opening remarks set the tone for an evening built around anticipation, familiar characters, and the promise of new experiences. But beyond the applause and Disney magic, the reveal offered a clearer picture of what the Believe wants to deliver: a vacation where your favorite stories follow you from your morning coffee to your evening cocktail. For fans who plan trips around the worlds they love, that is a compelling invitation.

Hitchcock welcomed Tracy Wilson, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Cruise Line operations, to the stage, where she announced the date future passengers have been waiting for.

“So I’m pleased to announce that the Disney Believe will officially set sail on December 18, 2027,” Wilson said.

The ship will sail four- and five-night cruises to the Bahamas and the Caribbean from Port Everglades. Those itineraries give the Believe a relatively compact window to make an impression, and the experiences introduced during the presentation suggest Disney intends to fill it with plenty of opportunities to eat, unwind, and indulge your fandom.

Wilson also acknowledged the Disney Cruise Line crew members in the audience. That recognition mattered. Elaborate spaces may get people excited enough to book, but the people working aboard the ship will ultimately shape how those spaces feel. Hitchcock’s introduction offered an early glimpse of that human element, with an opening cruise director eager to make the audience part of the celebration.

The ship’s dining lineup brings together Disney history and contemporary fandom. Returning from its sister ships, 1923 will celebrate the legacy of Disney animation through more than 1,000 drawings, props, and animation tools drawn from the Walt Disney Archives. Stories including Lilo & Stitch, Alice in Wonderland, Toy Story, and Peter Pan will be represented.

For animation lovers, the appeal extends beyond recognizing a favorite character. There is something special about encountering the creative work behind a film while sitting down to dinner. The artwork gives guests a reason to look closer and appreciate the artists whose ideas became part of their childhoods.

Worlds of Marvel will also return with “Marvel Celebration of Heroes: Groot Remix,” bringing Rocket, Groot, and an “awesome mix” into the family dining experience. The concept understands that superhero fandom has room for a little silliness, especially when everyone is gathered around a meal.

The Believe’s new cafés offer another way to spend time inside a beloved story. Big Hero Sips will draw inspiration from San Fransokyo in Big Hero 6, while Café Kakamora will take its cues from Motunui and the coconut creatures encountered in Moana.

These smaller venues could become some of the ship’s most inviting spaces. A themed café gives fans somewhere to linger, talk, and enjoy the setting without needing a full evening’s entertainment. Sometimes the vacation highlight is simply a good drink in a place that makes you smile.

Inside Out: Joyful Sweets will lean into that playful approach with larger-than-life sculptures of Joy, Sadness, Anxiety, and Envy, alongside the “Sense of Self” structure. The shop will offer nearly 20 flavors of gelato and ice cream, daily handcrafted gelato specials, and signature sweets available for purchase.

Meanwhile, Pluto’s Pita Platters will make its debut at Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods, adding a Mediterranean-inspired menu to the upper-deck food court. Alongside barbecue, pizza, burgers, bowls, salads, and soft-serve ice cream, it gives guests another option when the family cannot agree on lunch.

The adult spaces deserve attention, too. The returning Haunted Mansion Parlor will feature a new menu of cocktails and mocktails developed exclusively for the Believe. For the Disney adults who appreciate a little theatrical atmosphere with their evening drink, this is an especially enticing part of the reveal.

A Beauty and the Beast-inspired dining suite will include Palo Steakhouse, Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement, and The Rose lounge. Quiet Cove will offer an adult retreat with an infinity pool, whirlpool spas, a bar, and a café, while Senses Spa, Untangled Salon, and Hook’s Barbery add opportunities for relaxation and pampering. Together, these venues acknowledge that a family vacation can also include time for adults to enjoy themselves.

Hitchcock’s enthusiasm gave the presentation its opening spark, but the details supplied the reason to keep watching. The Disney Believe is bringing together animation history, Marvel humor, Pixar emotions, and spaces where grown-up fans can settle into their own version of Disney magic.

The real measure will come when guests step aboard and experience how it all works together. For now, this first look offers plenty to get excited about, especially for travelers who want their love of storytelling to be part of the vacation itself.
