The Green Lantern Corps is finally making its way to HBO as DC Studios’ Lanterns officially premieres August 16 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, with episodes streaming on HBO Max.
Starring Aaron Pierre as fan-favorite Green Lantern John Stewart and Kyle Chandler as legendary Lantern Hal Jordan, the eight-episode series pairs the two space-faring heroes for a mystery that begins on Earth but reaches far beyond it. Joining them is Kelly Macdonald in a key role as the investigation unfolds.

Rather than diving straight into galaxy-spanning battles, Lanterns takes a grounded approach, following Stewart—a new recruit to the Green Lantern Corps—and veteran Hal Jordan as they investigate a murder in the American heartland. What starts as a seemingly ordinary case soon reveals cosmic connections, pulling the pair into a conspiracy that could have far-reaching consequences.
Blending the intrigue of a prestige detective drama with the expansive mythology of the DC Universe, Lanterns looks poised to offer a fresh take on the Green Lantern legacy while introducing one of DC’s most iconic heroes to a new generation. For fans eager to see Aaron Pierre step into the emerald light and Kyle Chandler embody one of the Corps’ greatest legends, August can’t come soon enough.
