On June 18th-20th, SUBSUME Media will host a three-day-long celebration of pop culture, creativity, and technological innovation called Subsume Summit. The event involves artisans, writers, vendors, and experts from the fields of STEM coming together to share their work and interests. For the community at large, SUBSUME is an opportunity to meet well-known film and  entertainment personalities, shop with virtual vendors, chat with innovators in the creative and STEM

industries, and preview many up and coming works being developed by SUBSUME Media which speak to  the intersection of media and technology.

Held in conjunction with the Juneteenth holiday, Subsume Summit will act as a celebration of the  contributions of many people within both the creative and tech fields. The panels and discussions during  this event will highlight the intersection of these arenas, while also honoring some of the best and  brightest individuals which each field has to offer.

“The idea of SUBSUME, by definition, is to be included in something else — to find where you are intersecting with where you want to be. Effortless yet empowered,” said Dedren Snead, Founder of  SUBSUME Media, artist and entrepreneur. “That’s how it feels living in Atlanta right now — the cultural  center of the world. As a prophet once said, ‘The South got something to say,’.”

Some of our panels will include:

Image Comics’ Bitter Root Creative Panel– Published by Image Comics, Bitter Root follows the monster  hunting exploits of the Sangerye family, who specialize in hunting monsters who are people whose souls  are infected by hate. This Eisner-award winning series will soon be adapted into a Legendary Pictures  film by Regina King (One Night in Miami), and will be produced by Ryan Coogler (Black Panther, Fruitvale Station). The book’s creative team, David Walker, Chuck Brown, and Sanford Greene will be on hand to  discuss the series.

ART + NFT Workshop: Crypto for the Culture w/i Guapcoin

Black Panther: Tales of Wakanda: What Does Wakanda Mean to You? -This panel will highlight the  continued rise and cultural significance of the popular Marvel Comics character. The discussion will also  focus on the contributions of black speculative fiction writers to the ever-growing universe of Wakanda.

Gaming With a Cop: Community Gaming for Change– The Dekalb County Police Department continues  their community outreach effort through the field of video gaming. This will include a community  discussion on community policing and workforce development for K-12 students, using a scholastic  program developed by Subsume.

How I Got In: Black Creatives in Advertising– Oriel Davis-Lyons, Creative Director at Spotify and Founder of the ONE School, will discuss his career and the challenges faced by black creatives in the industry.
