One of the most highly anticipated book adaptations of the year from 20th Century Fox is coming soon to theaters October 19th 2018. The star-studded cast of the film The Hate You Give, based on the Angie Thomas book of the same name will be making its debut soon to a theater near you. BGN had the opportunity to interview the book’s author last year in a candid interview about the book.
Here’s a synopsis about the film:
Starr Carter is constantly switching between two worlds: the poor, mostly black, neighborhood where she lives and the rich, mostly white, prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Now, facing pressures from all sides of the community, Starr must find her voice and stand up for what’s right. THE HATE U GIVE is based on the critically acclaimed New York Times bestseller by Angie Thomas and stars Amandla Stenberg as Starr, with Russell Hornsby, Regina Hall, Common, Anthony Mackie, Issa Rae, KJ Apa, and Algee Smith.
The film is directed by George Tillman Jr. and written by Audrey Wells.
