Aquaman hits theaters on December 21, introducing the world to DC Comic’s favorite underwater hero, played by Jason Momoa. The film also introduces a new villain who is probably the most focused in the entire comic world. He doesn’t want to rule the world or destroy it. Black Manta, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, just wants to destroy Arthur Curry (Aquaman’s alter ego) for personal reasons we will discover in the film.

BGN’s Megan Maher sat with Abdul-Mateen II for a chat about playing Black Manta and preparing for the role. This includes getting into shape to “fight” Momoa, in character and in choreographed screens made for the film. Of course, Abdul-Mateen II had fun with the whole process.

Take a look at the video. Let us know what you think of Black Manta so far. Here’s some additional reading if you need it.
