The official trailer of The First Purge was dropped and it’s disturbing.
The First Purge is the fourth film of the series and is a prequel. Each installment is set in a future dystopian United States and explores the events that occur during a national event called The Purge. The Purge is an annual tradition established in America where everyone is allowed to commit all crimes, including murder, in one night in order to reduce the crime rate for the rest of the year.
This film shows us how the idea of the Purge came to be and the initial reaction of the American citizens. As seen in the trailer, the concept was initially met with opposition and protests, but we all know those agendas unfortunately failed, and the Purge was implemented.
The First Purge is directed by Gerard McMurray (Burning Sands), and the screenplay was written by James DeMonaco who wrote the previous Purge films.
