When Daredevil briefly collides with cosmic-scale stakes, it doesn’t diminish the importance of Hell’s Kitchen, it actually sharpens it.
What makes Matt Murdock one of Marvel’s most relatable heroes is not just his vulnerability, but his philosophy of impact we know this well as fans of Daredevil. Unlike gods and billionaires who operate on a global or intergalactic scale, Matt’s worldview is rooted in something deceptively small: the belief that local action carries universal consequences. That idea closely mirrors the Butterfly Effect, where even the smallest shift can trigger massive, unforeseen outcomes. This is described by actor Charlie Cox in a recent interview with Black Girl Nerds.
In a subtle question about possibly appearing in Avengers: Secret Wars Cox was asked:
As [Daredevil] briefly steps into a cosmic scale conflict, does that make Hell’s Kitchen feel smaller or more important when he comes back?
To Matt, every choice is like dropping a pebble into water. The ripple may begin on a street corner in New York, but it doesn’t stop there. Saving one life, stopping one crime, protecting one neighborhood, these aren’t isolated acts. They’re catalysts. In his mind, if he can “get New York right,” the ripple effect could extend far beyond his immediate world.
That perspective creates a compelling tension. Cosmic events may reshape galaxies, but Matt Murdock measures success in human terms: justice served, lives changed, communities protected. His brief exposure to larger stakes doesn’t pull him away from that mission, it validates it.
Because in a universe filled with gods, aliens, and multiversal chaos, Matt Murdock remains grounded in a simple but powerful truth: sometimes the smallest battles matter the most.
Cox didn’t exactly say no he’s not involved in any “cosmic-scale” activities. He didn’t confirm it either. However, the answer can also lead to the belief that Matt Murdock is dealing with aftermath of how the events of Secret Wars or even Doomsday (albeit he is not appearing in Doomsday) will impact his city. Only time will tell. For all we know, he could be pulling an Andrew Garfield on us.
Daredevil: Born Again premieres March 24th on Disney+
