Day 2 of WonderCon is in the books. Saturday morning, BGN attended the first arena panel, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. In attendance was creator Noelle Stevenson, and cast members Aimee Carrero (Adora/She-Ra), Karen Fukuhara (Glimmer), AJ Michalka (Catra), Marcus Scribner (Bow), Lauren Ash (Scorpia), and Merit Leighton (Frosta).

Starting off, the moderator asked about the response to Season 1. “So awesome,” said Noelle. “Seeing cosplayers in real life is mind-blowing. That’s a drawing that we did, and now it’s real. It’s nice working on a show that people like and want to watch.” Some of the cosplayers in the crowd took a moment to bask in the admiration of onlookers. There were some really good depictions of Adora and Catra.

Lauren jumped in with an awesome story about just how dedicated a fandom can be. “The fandom is amazing. The outpouring on social [media] is so cool. There was a guy on Twitter that made fun of Scorpia. People make fun of how I look, but it doesn’t bother me. But some guy made fun of how my character looks, and I got so mad. I was mad for 30 seconds, then everyone on Twitter just dragged him through the mud. It was great.” Applause ensued.

The panel continued with each person’s favorite moment from Season 1. Marcus chimed in right away with, “Anytime Bow gets to say ‘Best Friend Squad.’” Bow easily became a fan favorite during the panel. We were shown some clips from the new season, and Bow is fantastic. The moderator questioned what Bow was really like, apart from the fact that he’s not a princess. “Let’s make it clear: Bow is a princess,” Marcus stated matter-of-factly. The crowd was loving it. “He’s there as moral and physical support.”

Bow, we learned from the panel, has an interesting take on the heroes. In his head, they resemble the 1980s version of the show. It was great to see this on screen. Another thing we learned about Bow is that he is obsessed with mini figurines. “Bow is into D&D, if you didn’t know,” said Noelle. The cast continued to discuss Bow and the pain he is going through with the loss of Entrapta. Bow is insecure about how brilliant Entrapta was because he wants to be the best tech master. “He looks up to her,” says Marcus.

Another character the panel dove into was Scorpia. Season 2 is an important time for her. She is the most loyal character because she takes things to the next level. “Her heart is focused on her friendship and being loyal,” Noelle said. Any opportunity she can take to impress Catra, she will. “Scorpia is just a big softy with a hard shell brave, loyal, and great hugs is her mantra.” Scorpia will do anything for her friends.

Then, the panel dropped the epic Season 2 trailer! Adora and the princesses will not disappoint. The princesses are still trying to figure out how to work together and strategize. The main thing to remember about Catra is that, while she is after the princesses, she really is wondering how she will complete the goal of getting her best friend back. At this point, Adora has completely found a new family, and Catra just wants her back.

Be sure to check out Season 2 of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power on Netflix April 26.
