It was 1973. Two tennis champions held the world of sports in the palm of their hands. Everyone watched with bated breath to see what the two opponents would say and do next. Would he continue to be outlandish in his statements on the abilities of a woman? Would she be quiet and smile as she held back cutting rebuttals? As the moment of them stepping on their field of battle grew closer, so did their individual moments of personal reckonings.

Starring Emma Stone as Billie Jean King and Steve Carell as Bobby Riggs Battle of the Sexes gives us a look at the summer that forever changed how women would be viewed in sports, life, and their abilities to do anything men could do, and even better.

Battle of the Sexes is the newest production of Fox Searchlight Pictures. Directed by Valerie Faris and Jonathan Dayton, the movie will be released in theatres September 22, 2017.
