Star Wars Celebration 2023 Is Happening and Here’s What We’re Covering

Star Wars Celebration 2023 is underway and we here at Black Girl Nerds are pretty geeked out about it!

Fans from all over the world from galaxies far, far, away have traversed to London this week to celebrate all things Star Wars. This is the first international event since their previous event in 2016 — and I’m pretty certain that the locals are psyched to celebrate this in their backyard again. Star Wars Celebration will take place at the London ExCeL from April 7 to 10, 2023.

There are some events on starwars.com that will be livestreamed for those watching from the comfort of your home; however, not every event will be. You can follow us on social media or simply check out the hashtag #starwarscelebration to see up-to-the-minute details and coverage coming straight out of the convention center.

There are still some guest appearances and film releases under wraps, but currently there’s talk that Lucasfilm is making some huge announcements this year including three Star Wars movie releases.

Last year we were blown away by the announcements that were given to us by Lucasfilm and as we reported our 7 takeaways from the Anaheim Star Wars Celebration. These included the debut of Andor, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni’s project Ashoka, and the Jude Law series Skeleton Crew.

While there will be several panels at this year’s event, BGN specifically will be laser focused on the Lucasfilm Studio Showcase, which will be the panel disclosing all of the movie and TV releases coming out of the production house soon, and the panel about Ahsoka, which is a series that many fans have been waiting for with bated breath since Clone Wars. Rosario Dawson, who plays the titular character, made an appearance last year, and fans look forward to hearing more of what she has to say about what Ahsoka Tano has been up to and the direction she’ll take in this universe.

Another series that was announced in early 2021 was The Acolyte. This live-action series takes place during the High Republic era and is filled with an all-star cast. Just to name a few, the series stars Amandla Stenberg, Jodie Turner-Smith, Dafne Keen, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Manny Jacinto. With production complete, we’re pretty certain there will be an update on this series soon and hopefully some guest appearances from the cast.

Star Wars Celebration is more than just big studio movie and TV show reveals.  There are also smaller panels focused on great content surrounding diversity in the Star Wars universe, super talented authors with graphic novels and books, and of course there’s the exhibition hall! It’s the one place you cannot miss if you happen to come to Celebration to spend a little cash and get yourself some swag. I plan to walk away with a Grogu doll myself.

Celebration is also the best place to see some of the most top notch Star Wars cosplay you will ever see. So if you’re heavy into cosplay, and specifically Star Wars cosplay, spending a day or two at Celebration is definitely worth your time.

What do you think will be announced this week?

We’ll keep you posted on social media as information comes in.  Be sure to follow us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook!
