Vision is trying to figure out who he is, and apparently his internal support system includes Ultron. We have concerns.

Marvel Television has released a new trailer for VisionQuest, the upcoming Disney+ original series premiering October 14. Paul Bettany returns as Vision in the final chapter of the trilogy that began with WandaVision in 2021 and continued with Agatha All Along in 2024.

After a journey through grief, fractured family ties, and witchcraft, the story turns toward Vision’s search for purpose. But finding yourself gets considerably more complicated when someone puts a bounty on your head and a boy who might be your reincarnated son enters the picture.

Vision’s Search for Meaning Comes With Some Questionable Advice

Rebooted and free from those who wanted to turn him into a weapon, Vision has been living in hiding. As he searches for meaning, he consults the AI personas embedded in his programming, including F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and Ultron.

Yes, that Ultron. When the voice in your head has that particular résumé, a second opinion feels necessary.

The premise gives VisionQuest an intriguing way to explore identity. Vision has escaped people who tried to define his purpose for him, but he still has to contend with the influences inside his own programming. What does independence look like when those voices are part of how you understand yourself?

His attempt at a discreet existence ends when a bounty forces him on the run with Thomas Shepherd, a mysterious boy who may be his son, reincarnated. Together, they face a pursuit that requires Vision to resist Ultron’s influence while uncovering the truth about his young companion.

Thomas Shepherd Brings the Family Questions Back Into Focus

Ruaridh Mollica joins the series as Thomas Shepherd, whose possible connection to Vision places family at the center of the story once again.

For viewers invested in WandaVision, that possibility carries emotional weight. The series built its mystery around a family shaped by love and grief, leaving questions that extended well beyond Westview. VisionQuest now has the opportunity to examine what fatherhood might mean for Vision under very different circumstances.

Thomas’s identity remains a mystery in the announced synopsis, so theories can stay theories for now. Still, a potential father-son relationship unfolding during a dangerous escape gives Marvel plenty of room for emotional stakes alongside the action.

Paul Bettany Returns With an Ensemble Cast

Joining Bettany and Mollica are James Spader, Todd Stashwick, T’Nia Miller, Lauren Morais, Orla Brady, Diane Morgan, Polly Frame, Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, Emily Hampshire, and James D’Arcy.

When Does VisionQuest Premiere?

VisionQuest premieres exclusively on Disney+ on October 14. Ahead of its arrival, WandaVision is also available on Hulu beginning October 1 for a limited time, giving viewers another opportunity to revisit the story that started the trilogy.

Vision’s next chapter brings a possible reunion, a dangerous pursuit, and an identity crisis with an unusually crowded guest list. We’re ready to see where that takes him. We would just advise against letting Ultron lead the family meeting.
